Operation Coats

Each November the members of Women’s Service League collect and distribute thousands of free coats to men, women and children living in Berrien County. Coat drop boxes are set up throughout the twin cities for community members and organizations to donate gently used coats and jackets of all shapes and sizes.

In turn, all drop boxes are delivered to the Benton Harbor Salvation Army where WSL members hand-select each item to ensure it is in good condition. We then “recycle” chosen garments back to those in need. This is a wonderful event that has helped hundreds of thousands of people make it through the tough Michigan winters.

If you would like to contribute to Operation Coats, or would like more information, please contact us.

This year upward of 2,000 coats were collected and distributed! Thank you to everyone who donated items, volunteered, and coordinated this huge effort.
